WISH Atlanta, a local infertility support group, is hosting a free yoga class at its gathering 7 p.m. Thursday night.

The event will be held at Temple Sinai, Atlanta (5645 Dupree Drive, NW, 30327).

The WISH support group (for men and women) was started by a group of women from Temple Sinai facing challenges trying to start a family and want to create a place to share information and provide support for others also experiencing infertility.

The new support group that will meet monthly at Temple Sinai is aimed at providing education and support on everything from traditional and alternative medicine and legal issues surrounding adoption and surrogacy to dialogue about what Judaism has to say on fertility, ritual and loss. The support group is open to people of all faiths. The monthly support group is also scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 3.

At this month’s information session, Temple Sinai member and yoga teacher, Caren Cohen, will share the benefits of yoga for fertility, stress reduction and overall fitness. Caren is a 200-hour certified yoga instructor that has been practicing yoga for 12 years and teaching since 2011. The mother of two children, Caren also struggled with fertility and will share her story. Beyond this session, you can find her classes at Empower Yoga and Burn Studios.

If you haven’t experienced infertility yourself, you likely have a friend, family member, or neighbor grappling with the medical and emotional aspects of infertility.

In addition, Michelle Moody, Lic. Acu., of Meridian Health Healing Arts will join us to discuss the therapeutic benefits of acupuncture for fertility treatments and over all health.

Note: Loose clothing and yoga mat encouraged.
