Former California U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris is now Vice President Kamala Harris after her history-making swearing-in on Inauguration Day.

The politician marked several firsts that day: the first female vice president, the first Black vice president and the first vice president of South Asian descent.

Her achievements weren’t lost on women of color, many of whom took to Twitter to share the ways they marked the occasion.

Numerous women especially did so after Harris’ sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc., tweeted encouraging members to post photos using #kamalaharrisday to celebrate the organization naming Jan. 20 Kamala D. Harris Day.

Women of color not only represented for AKA, but they also did so for Howard University, Harris’ alma mater.

Others simply tweeted how impactful it was for them and their daughters to see the iconic moment.
