As fashion week come to a close, French brand Balenciaga unveiled a daring creation for their Summer 2023 line.

As part of “The Mud Show” collection, the brand debuted a new $1,800 handbag that looks exactly like a bag of Lay’s potato chips.

The leather clutch was created by Balenciaga creative director Demna Gvasalia, and is their take on what it means when fashion and graphics collide. The inside of the bag is also much like the classic potato chip bag as it has silver lining.

Lay’s Instagram account wasted no time sharing the runway show and their collaboration with Balenciaga.

The Lay’s collaboration collection will feature the classic potato chip, salt and vinegar, lime and a flaming hot version.

“Fashion loves boxes and labels more than anything. Luxury, not luxury, street, couture, good, bad, buzz, viral, all the same, who cares. Putting fashion into the box of polished, exclusive, and visually expensive is limited and pretty old school,” said Demnas to Hypbeast.

Demna is no stranger to taking everyday items and turning them into a big money grab. He’s responsible for the Croc stilettos and he once released a pair of sneakers that are falling apart.

While the potato chip bag sells for $1,800, the high-end brand is also selling trash bag purses starting at $1,790 and trash bag heels starting at $3,250. The potato chip bag will be available later this year.
