You might know the tale of Harriet Tubman, but you don’t know it like this.
Directed by Kasi Lemmons, “Harriet” tells the one-of-a-kind heroine’s story who after escaping slavery in 1849 was able to lead 70 slaves to freedom. Cynthia Erivo plays the role of Tubman and the film also features greats such as Leslie Odom Jr., Joe Alwyn, Janelle Monae and Jennifer Nettles.
According to the film’s website, “’Harriet’ is based on the thrilling and inspirational life of an iconic American freedom fighter. It tells the extraordinary tale of Harriet Tubman's escape from slavery and transformation into one of America's greatest heroes. Her courage, ingenuity, and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of history.”
