Six Flags is the new place in metro Atlanta to cool off.

Friday, the Cobb County amusement park is opening Hurricane Harbor, a 7-acre water park and the largest expansion in Six Flags Over Georgia’s history. The water park includes three new attractions — two big-thrills water slides and a wave pool — plus a rebranded Skull Island. (The interactive water playground installed in 2005 is now called Paradise Island.)

Hurricane Harbor is included with general admission to the park, but it does operate on its own schedule. Generally, it will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Check sixflags.com/overgeorgia for an operating schedule, park hours and discounted tickets. You can save up to $20 off the gate price by buying tickets through the website.

Tickets at the gate are $59.99; $39.99 for those 48 inches and shorter; free for ages 2 and younger. 275 Riverside Parkway S.W., Austell. 770-739-3400.
