Stars of the film “The Shawshank Redemption” will be in Ohio on Labor Day weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the movie’s making.

Shawshank Reunion Weekend events will be offered in Mansfield, Ashland and Upper Sandusky. The reunion Aug. 30 through Sept. 1 kicks off with tours of the Ohio State Reformatory, open to adults and children.

There will also be wagon tours at Malabar Farm State Park to Pugh Cabin and past the Shawshank oak tree, which appear in the opening scene of the film.

Visitors may also take self-guided tours of multiple locations that appear in the film, including the Bissman Building (Brewer Hotel and Portland Daily Bugle), Huntington National Bank (Maine National Bank scene), Revivals 2 Thrift Store (Trailways Bus Station), Wyandot County Courthouse (Andy Dufresne’s Trial) and the Shawshank Woodshop (prison woodshop, reenactment and tours).

“Beyond film location tours, the Shawshank theme is embraced at local restaurants, shops, attractions and hotels throughout the area, from the hand-crafted Prison Break Soda at Richland Carrousel Park to the Shawshank candy bars at the Squirrel’s Den confectionary and the delectable Shawshank sundae served up at Olivesburg General Store,” states a release from event organizers.
