Oy Restaurant in Vinings

Described by owner Adam Jaffe as "over-the-top breakfast, brunch and lunch seven days a week," Oy Restaurant opened last week in Vinings. Chefs Tony Sharpe and Chris Johnson are in the kitchen overseeing a menu inspired by Jaffe's mother, Atlanta caterer Sherry Habif. Look for the likes of 12-inch "extreme" buttermilk pancakes, "giant" six-egg omelets, Certified Angus Beef brisket and short rib steak burgers, and 2-pound "mountains" of fries, plus shakes and sundaes. "Mama Sherry taught me to see the world through taste and amazingly delicious experiences," Jaffe explains on the website. 2355 Cumberland Parkway, Suite 80, Atlanta. 770-989-1901, oyrestaurant.com.

Queen of Cream opening

On Aug. 6, Atlanta's Queen of Cream is set to open its first ice cream parlor near the Beltline in the Old Fourth Ward. The company, which got off the ground as a mobile ice cream cart in 2014, was co-founded by 28-year-old Cora Cotrim, who has worked as a pastry chef at Paper Plane, Victory Sandwich Bar, and Cacao. Last year, Cotrim was named one of Zagat's "30 Under 30" rising stars in the Atlanta food and drink industry. In addition to ice cream, the parlor and coffee shop will feature an in-house bakery offering pies, cookies and other treats. 701 Highland Ave., Atlanta. 678-374-8104, queenofcream.com.
