Smack in the middle of Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park, Googie Burger is a fun spot featuring quality cooked-to-order fast food and a lively outdoor setting.

The basic burger-and-fries menu recalls Five Guys. But Googie adds some Southern flair, plus cool beverages for kids and grown-ups.

The Menu

Order the Classic Googie single ($3.95) or better yet, deliciously decadent double ($4.95). The two-patty stack creates a juicy symbiosis among the hand-formed griddled beef, gooey American cheese and soft potato roll. Iceberg lettuce, tomato, red onion, dill pickle chips and signature sauce add tang and crunch.

The weird-sounding Beefy Pig ($4.95 single/ $5.95 double) is a tasty barbecue/burger hybrid, topped with smoky pulled pork, bacon and mustard sauce. The crispy, spicy Flyin’ South chicken sandwich ($4.95) is topped with hot sauce and blue cheese slaw. Crave-worthy Boardwalk-style fries ($1.95 regular/$2.95 large) are freshly cut, then twice-cooked in peanut oil.

The Drinks

Beyond freshly squeezed lemonade, iced tea and fountain sodas ($1.95), look for milkshakes ($3.95) and Abita root beer ($3.95) or Coca-Cola ($2.95) floats. The adult beverage list includes Sweetwater 420 and IPA ($4.95), red or white wine ($5.95) and spiked shakes ($6.95) made with vanilla vodka and soft-serve ice cream.

The Look

Googie is named for the exaggerated architectural style found at futuristic drive-in restaurants and bowling alleys of the ’50s and ’60s. Jeffery “The Dude” Lebowski or George Jetson would feel right at home under the floating arches at the order and pickup windows.

The Scene

Weekdays, downtown workers line up for lunch on the go. Evenings and weekends, couples out for a cheap date and families with children hang at the outdoor tables surrounding the Googie pavilion.

The Extras

A splash away from the park’s dancing “Fountain of Rings” and close to CNN Center, the Georgia Aquarium and other attractions, Googie is an easy-going downtown oasis.
