Cibo E Beve joins the growing ranks of new places, including Double Zero and No. 246, that mix Italian-inspired cooking with local and seasonal ingredients and a vibrant bar scene.

Located a few doors down from Food 101 on Roswell Road, the latest addition to the 101 Concepts group of restaurants is helmed by chef/partner Linda Harrell with mixologist Justin Hadaway.

The look: The design by ai3 manages to be both stylish and cozy, combining vintage elements, such as a marble antipasti bar and a zinc cocktail bar, with the likes of pale leather banquettes that resemble big comfy chairs. A family-style table near the open kitchen is partially hidden by a half wall.

The scene: One evening, the bar area was crowded with 101 regulars, working on wine and pizzas, while couples and families filled the tables in the dining room. A man dining alone at the bar touted the Chatham County Line, a pecan-infused whiskey cocktail with sourwood honey and maple syrup that gets a dramatic final shot of flavor from a handheld food smoker.

The menu: Harrell, a veteran of Meehan’s Public House and Mangia 101, offers a long list of small bites, such as arancini ($9) beef carpaccio ($12), hamachi crudo ($10) and figs with prosciutto and gorgonzola ($9), as well as salumi and cheese plates. Pasta dishes include spaghetti with lobster, leeks and heirloom tomatoes ($16) and orecchiette with turnip greens, sausage and asiago ($11). Main plates range from osso buco-style lamb shank ($19) to roasted Alaskan Halibut Genovese ($22).

The drinks: Hadaway’s cocktail list goes from such potent classics as a Sazerac to more whimsical elixirs like the Madonna-inspired No Sex in the Rainbow Room. The all-Italian wine list includes a sparkly Lambrusco at $6 a glass and a reserve Super Tuscan at $270 a bottle.

The extras: A late night bar, antipasto and pizza menu is available until midnight Sundays and Mondays and until 2 a.m. the rest of the week. Lunch features several sandwiches, including Veal Parmigiana ($12) and lower priced main plates ($12 -- $14). Look for brunch on Saturdays.
