WOODSTOCK

iThink Improv Troupe at City Center

Improv shows often contain not-ready-for-prime-time comedy and blue barbs. The iThink Improv Troupe, made up of actors and average Joes and Janes, is decidedly family friendly. This improvisational comedy show attempts to reel in laughs with off-the-cuff humor and audience interaction. It follows Woodstock’s Friday Nite Live, which takes place the first Friday of each month. Select downtown merchants keep their businesses open until 9 p.m. with special sales, live music and more. Each week has a theme and this one goes positively Polynesian, dubbing itself the Main Street Luau.

9 p.m. June 1. $5. City Center, 8534 Main St., Woodstock. 678-494-4251, www.elmstreetarts.org.

SANDY SPRINGS

Atlanta Pleasure Band at Heritage Green

The Concerts by the Springs series continues. This party band is one of those all-purpose special event groups who can roll Motown soul one moment and rock Maroon 5 the next. This means you can have a bite of “Sugar Pie Honey Bunch” with a side of Black Eyed Peas. Organizers suggest guests come early with blankets, coolers and picnic baskets. Leave the pets and cigarettes at home. You can find parking on Sandy Springs Place in designated parking lots. Other parking options include the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church's Hitson Activity Center lot. The event returns Father’s Day June 17 with The Swingin’ Medallions, a concert that was postponed on Mother’s Day.

7 p.m. June 3. Free. Heritage Green, 6110 Bluestone Road, Sandy Springs. 404-851-9111, www.heritagesandysprings.org.

MARIETTA

Atlanta Hamfest at Jim R. Miller Park

Visitors learn tips and tricks about contemporary radio technology and old-school radios, too. Experience ham radio-related forums and mix and mingle with local radio clubs. Need a license to operate your ham radio? You can take exams on site. An array of vendors will be offering radios, parts and other accessories. One lucky winner will take home the grand door prize: a Kenwood TS-590S, a high-performance transceiver.

8 a.m.-3 p.m. June 2. $5; free ages 17 and younger. Jim R. Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Road, Marietta. www.atlantahamfest.org.
