ROSWELL

“Anytown: The Improvised Musical” at 590 at Pico Autentico

The folks behind Groupmind Productions are ready to sing and dance for your pleasure. They just don’t know what they’ll be doing quite yet. This show is completely off the cuff. The evening begins when the audience suggests the name for a small town where the denizens all know each other. The cast then uses more audience interaction to create the cast of characters who sing and dance with improvised silliness. Groupmind Productions does it all without the aid of costumes, props or sets. It’s the thrill of the unexpected, which may leave you unexpectedly laughing.

8 p.m. Aug. 13. Saturdays in August and September. $15-$20. 590 at Pico Autentico, 590 Mimosa Blvd., Roswell. 770-552-6837, www.groupmindproductions.com.

DULUTH

Flicks on the Bricks at Duluth Town Green Park

It may be back-to-school season, but it’s still summer. This outdoor movie series keeps flickering away with another family-friendly movie on the big screen. “Rango,” the hit animated film that came out earlier this year, owes a big debt to classic spaghetti Westerns. Johnny Depp voices the title character, a domesticated chameleon who must fake his way around a Wild West town in dire need of a new sheriff. Although the flick doesn’t begin until dark, about 8:50 p.m., the other festivities begin earlier. Kids can cool down in the spray fountain and play games in the kids zone. Concessions will be available for sale. If you’d rather pack a picnic, feel free, but leave the alcohol at home.

7 p.m. Aug. 12. Free. Duluth Town Green Park, 3142 Hill St., Duluth. 770-476-3434, www.duluthga.net.

CHATTAHOOCHEE HILLS

“Shipwrecked! An Entertainment -- The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (as Told by Himself)” at Serenbe Playhouse

Audiences can set sail for a virtual high seas excursion. Louis de Rougemont, a swashbuckling hero, relays the wild experiences that gave him celebrity status in 19th-century England. The tales come off taller than a tsunami wave as Rougemont peppers them with gargantuan sea turtles, a man-eating octopus and flying wombats. Mark Kincaid, Minka Wiltz and Will Shuler star in a production directed by Brian Clowdus. It all comes from the Pulitzer Prize–winning pen of playwright Donald Margulies.

8:30 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays through Aug. 27. $15-$20. Serenbe Playhouse, 9110 Selborne Lane, Suite 210, Chattahoochee Hills. 770-463-1110, www.serenbeplayhouse.com.
