MARIETTA

Yacht Rock Revue at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre

Atlanta’s reigning king of covers hits the figurative OTP waters. Yacht Rock Revue prepares for a two-night stint at this sparkling, refurbished classic theater. On Nov. 18, it’s business as usual as Yacht Rock Revue puts on the captain’s hat and eases back into the ’70s playing a slew of numbers even Rikki couldn’t lose. Think Doobie Brothers, Hall & Oates, Little River Band and others. The group returns on Nov. 19 under its Please PleaseRock Me moniker, taking on the daunting task of playing two of rock’s most lauded albums in their entirely: the Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side of the Moon.” The latter will be played in sync with the 1939 classic “The Wizard of Oz,” perpetuating the urban legend that Pink Floyd created its disc to do just that. The REMakes, another band from the PleaseRock family, opens the evening playing R.E.M.’s “Document” album in full. Those 18 and older are invited to the Nov. 18 show, while the Nov. 19 show is all ages. The shows start at 8 p.m.

$15 advance; $18 at the door. The Earl Smith Strand Theatre, 117 N. Park Square, Marietta. 770-293-0080, www.earlsmithstrand.org.
