Animal conservation is the centerpiece of “Wildlife Rescue,” the new exhibit opening Saturday at Fernbank Museum of Natural History (767 Clifton Road N.E.).

More than 40 interactives are placed throughout the 12,000-square-foot gallery, including an ultralight aircraft that shows how fledgling whooping cranes learn to migrate and numerous animal-related games.

Opening weekend activities include visits from representatives at local animal rescue groups, including Atlanta Wild Rescue Animal Rescue, Atlanta Audubon Society and Atlanta Botanical Garden. The sessions take place in the Great Hall from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday.

On Sunday from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Wildlife Rescue Theater, Dr. Rebecca Snyder from Zoo Atlanta will discuss Giant Panda conservation.
