Bubbalini's unlocks gridlock with specials

If you've been stuck in it, you know there is gridlock on Whitlock Avenue on Marietta's west side on most weeknights. The owners of Bubbalini's, 800 Whitlock Ave., have come up with an alternative. Pull into their parking lot and take a seat for dinner before 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and you'll save 25 percent on appetizers, entrees and desserts. If you're more in the mood for munchies, sidle up to the bar, where you can sample specially priced drinks and complimentary appetizers Monday through Friday. The "unlock gridlock" bar specials end at 7 p.m. Info: 678-594-7770; www.bubbalini.com.

• Learn the ABC's — Anything But Chardonnay — of wine in a short session on Wednesday at Aspens, 2942 Shallowford Road in east Cobb. Beginning at 7 p.m., certified sommelier Ryan Mullins will introduce your palate to a range of tastes from Europe and the West Coast that don't include the popular white grape. Instead, sample a Riesling, Pinot Gris, Fume Blanc, Pinot Noir, a sparkling apple cider and more. Reservations are $25; stay for dinner and receive 15 percent off the bill. 678-236-1400; www.sedgwickrestaurantgroup.com.

• It's that time of year again. Get your fresh vegetables and produce on the Marietta Square every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon. Through Aug. 30, an average of 40 vendors will be on hand with the latest goodies from their gardens, as well as honey, breads, herbs and plants. The market takes up the north side of the square, near Shillings restaurant. Details: www.mariettasquarefarmersmarket.com.
