Seeking to showcase the riches of its School of Fine Arts, the Savannah College of Art and Design is putting on its second deFINE ART -- a lineup of exhibits, lectures and happenings in Atlanta and Savannah next week. All are free and open to the public.

The Atlanta offerings, running Tuesday through Thursday, include Metropolitan Museum of Art curator Gary Tinterow discussing the building of the New York museum's modern and contemporary collection; Paul D. Miller (aka DJ Spooky that Subliminal Kid), the experimental hip-hop musician and conceptual artist, presenting a multimedia performance; and a keynote lecture by New York performance artist Marina Abramović, who had a four-decade retrospective last year at MoMA.

deFINE ART also will include three exhibitions: Andreas Kocks' “Momentary Suspension,” featuring a new site-specific cut paper installation and drawings (through Thursday); JuYeon Kim's “The In-Between,” sculptural installations (through Feb. 27); and “Six in One: SCAD in New American Paintings,” works by six SCAD students and alumni who are included in the 88th edition of the national art journal (through Friday).

The festivities also will include open studios at SCAD's main campus -- with student, faculty and alumni artwork for sale -- from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Events are at SCAD, 1600 Peachtree St., unless noted otherwise. They include:
