Last month, "Love and Hip Hop Atlanta" star Benzino and his fiance Althea Hart were unceremoniously fired with no explanation.
Now Benzino's former buddy Stevie J claims to TMZ that Benzino threatened his life and those of his boo Joseline Hernandez and the producers after the reunion battle over the summer when Joseline attacked Althea and others. This led to his firing, Stevie J said.
Benzino said that is a supreme lie from a man who has no compunction telling lies. He said the producers believe Stevie J and Joseline are the straws that stir the "Love and Hip Hop Atlanta" drink so they supported them over Benzino and Althea. "They wanted to keep the crackhead whore," he bluntly told TMZ. ( Through his business partner Dave Mays, I wasn't able to procure an interview with Benzino.)
Althea has filed a lawsuit against Joseline, accusing her of being on crack cocaine during the reunion. Althea and Benzino precipitated Joseline's violent behavior after making a joke about her being hot on the set because of her drug use.
Joseline has an arrest warrant against her in New York where the reunion was taped but has not turned herself in for her multiple attacks at the reunion. Benzino has complained that security deliberately gave Joseline free rein during that situation.
Benzino has not taken any legal action against Stevie J but he considers what Stevie J said as slanderous.
It was less than a year ago when then business partners Benzino and Stevie J opened a bar downtown that quickly shut down when they battled the other landlords after a tumultuous opening night that involved reality-show patented fights. Clearly, that partnership is over.
"Love and Hip Hop Atlanta" is the most popular show on VH1, doing better than the original New York version or the Hollywood version featuring Soulja Boy.
