Atlanta over the past decade has been home to dozens of sequels including “Pitch Perfect 3,” “Ride Along 2,” “Anchorman 2,” “Dumb and Dumber Too” and “Magic Mike XXL.” And don’t forget the “Divergent,” “Fast and Furious” and “Hunger Games” films, along with a raft of Marvel movies.

The metro area is currently home to productions of sequels to “Annabelle,” “Jumanji,” “Conjuring” and “Zombieland.”

Another major one is likely to come later this year in the form of "Suicide Squad 2." Will Smith, who is shooting "Bad Boys for Life," will have to be replaced as Deadshot. (Rumors it's Idris Elba.) But Margot Robbie is set to return at Harley Quinn.

Deadline says producer James Gunn wants to start shooting in Atlanta in September. The sequel is scheduled to come out in August, 2021.

The first movie, which came out in 2016, got roasted by critics but still grossed nearly $750 million worldwide, $325 million domestically.
