Sao Paulo - Georgia's trade delegation arrived late Tuesday in Brazil's business capital, a never-ending vista of skyscrapers teeming with more than 20 million people.

The trade mission of 30 or so state business and political leaders arrived after two-and-a-half days in Rio de Janeiro, where they scoured for business, toured universities, met with potential recruits and huddled with industry groups.

Some of the same is on the menu in Sao Paulo, a sprawling city whose legendary traffic makes Atlanta's gridlock seem quaint.

The visit started Tuesday with a reception at the swanky offices of FIESP, the city's industry trade group, where they were greeted by the U.S. Ambassador to Brazil and treated to another rendition of "Georgia on My Mind."

Gov. Nathan Deal deployed a familiar pitch from his campaign stump speech, telling the crowd of local business elites of Georgia's business bona fides.

"We are proud that the state of Georgia has been designated by several rating agencies the number one state in the United States in which to do business," he said.
