Donald Trump Jr. has two events in
Georgia today: A round-table with a group of African-American business leaders in downtown Atlanta, then a noon gathering at Rock Springs Church in Milner, Ga. -- where U.S. Sen. David Perdue, a Trump supporter, is a member.
His visit comes on the heels of a Wednesday trip to the state by two other Trump siblings, Ivanka and Tiffany. And there's no secret what's at work. An AJC poll last week showed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump leading Democrat Hillary Clinton by three points -- a statistical tie.
A Quinipiac University poll of potential swing states, released Thursday, shows the contest even tighter. From the press release:
Democrat Hillary Clinton wipes out Republican Donald Trump's leads in Georgia and Iowa, where the two are tied among likely voters. She has a slight edge in North Carolina and is pounding Trump in Virginia, according to a Quinnipiac University Swing State Poll….
Margin of error is set at 3.7 percent. The Georgia numbers:
Trump at 44 percent to Clinton's 43 percent, with 8 percent for Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson. This compares to a 47 – 40 percent Trump lead September 22…

Georgia likely voters have negative opinions of both Clinton and Trump, with Clinton at a negative 40 – 55 percent favorability rating and Trump at a negative 38 – 55 percent.
In the four-way race, men back Trump 49 – 39 percent, as women back Clinton 47 – 39 percent. White voters back Trump 65 – 23 percent, while non-white voters back Clinton 77 – 9 percent.
Trump takes Republicans 86 – 7 percent while Democrats go to Clinton 93 – 3 percent. Independent voters are divided with 40 percent for Clinton, 38 percent for Trump and 15 percent for Johnson.
"As in all the states surveyed by Quinnipiac University, negative favorability ratings dog both candidates. While Hillary Clinton has a slight lead among early voters, this race looks like it will come down to the wire," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

In last week's sole U.S. Senate debate, Democrat Jim Barksdale brought up the topic of Republican incumbent Johnny Isakson's dad and his company, Northside Realty, and its role in white-flight Atlanta during the '60s and 'early '70s.
Now Isakson's campaign plans to feature U.S. Sen. Tim Scott on Saturday – the first African-American Republican to be elected to Congress from the South since Reconstruction. We're told this was planned far in advance.

U.S. Sen. David Perdue isn't the only Georgia Republican venturing beyond the Peach State to bolster his GOP colleagues ahead of the election.
We see that Gainesville Congressman Doug Collins also hit the road this week to stump for GOP allies in Florida, Nebraska and California.

Now we're getting word that the College Park native will be with Pastor Raphael Warnock of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, pastor and several civil organizations in Atlanta on Sunday as part out 'souls to the polls.'
Buses are planning to transport more than 300 people to the polls for early voting, with a main focus of turning out people of color. There will also be a press conference and cookout. Our only question: Will 2 Chainz be manning the grill?
