Gov. Nathan Deal traveled to Louisiana this week to visit Georgia National Guard soldiers who are preparing to deploy to Afghanistan in December.

The governor said he was inspired by the “bravery and selflessness” of the 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, which is training at Fort Polk for the overseas mission.

“As they prepare to mobilize and we await their safe return home, we take comfort in knowing our soldiers are mission-ready and prepared to face any adversary that poses a threat to our nation and people,” he said.
