The final tallies are in from fair-goers in Perry at the Georgia National Fair, participating in the fair's first-ever presidential straw poll, who crowned Republican neurosurgeon Ben Carson and Democratic former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp launched the Peanut Poll this year as a way to further stoke interest in the March 1 SEC Primary, which includes Georgia and a raft of southern states. More than 28,000 total votes were cast -- making it, by Kemp's calculations, the biggest straw poll in the country.

Carson narrowly topped Donald Trump among Republicans, with no one else in the field coming anywhere close. Clinton dominated her side, with nearly three times as many votes as Bernie Sanders. Maybe-candidate Joe Biden was a distant third.
