If you ever doubted the inspirational power of Sharon Jones , take a look at the trailer for the upcoming documentary, "Miss Sharon Jones!"

The film, directed by Barbara Kopple, digs into the Augusta native's early days as a performer as well as her stint as a corrections officer at Rikers Island.

You want spirit? Jones has enough for 20 people.

Starz Digital has acquired the North American distribution rights to the film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall and recently played at SXSW. The company will open the movie theatrically on July 29, followed by a digital, on-demand and home video release this fall.

In Atlanta, "Miss Sharon Jones!" will open exclusively at Landmark's Midtown Art Cinema on Aug. 26.

Kopple, known for her work with the Dixie Chicks’ “Shut Up & Sing” as well as “Harlan County U.S.A.,” about labor tension in the coal mining industry, also details Jones' fight against pancreatic cancer; she was diagnosed in 2013.

Jones recently performed in Atlanta on a bill with Hall & Oates and Trombone Shorty in May ( here's the review if you missed it ).
