Not only did Mastodon win its first-ever Grammy Award on Sunday, but the Atlanta hard rockers will return to the Fox Theatre this spring on a joint tour with Primus.

The bands will hit the venue at 7 p.m. May 16. Tickets start at $35 and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 2 at www.foxtheatre.org , by calling 1-855-285-8499, or at the venue box office.

Primus is supporting its latest album, “The Desaturating Seven,” while Mastodon is still touring behind “Emperor of Sand,” debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 album chart last year with first-week sales of 43,000, their largest ever.

In an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution leading up to the Grammys, Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor talked about how the band's 2017 performance at the Fox was a massive achievement.

“It’s one of those kinds of things where it feels like we’ve been let in somewhere where heavy metal is not let in…We’d drive past it in our van in the days when we were playing the Star Bar and go, ‘One day, we’re gonna play the Fox.’ Playing there, it felt like we won an award.”

Backstage at the Grammys, Dailor credited Mastodon’s Atlanta fans for nudging them toward success from the beginning of their career.
