Musical giants seem to be dropping all around us, and the two of the most recent losses -- Gregg Allman and Col. Bruce Hampton -- had strong Georgia and Atlanta ties.

Col. Bruce, as many of you know, suffered a heart attack on the stage of the Fox Theater last month at a celebration of his 70th birthday. This weekend, the great blues guitarist Tinsley Ellis will host a celebration of Hampton's life and career to close Saturday's Tunes at the Tombs event at Oakland Cemetary.  Special guests are expected, and the Tunes at the Tombs event is uniquely Atlantan in its own right.
