From Fairfax, Virginia -

Even as he skipped the Nevada Caucus in order to campaign in states that vote on March 1, Ohio Gov. John Kasich rejected suggestions today that he get out of the GOP race in order to consolidate anti-Donald Trump support behind Marco Rubio.

"I think it's funny," Kasich laughed when asked by reporters about calls by the Rubio team for Kasich to drop out. "I think it's ridiculous."

"You know, you were here today," Kasich said to reporters about his town hall at George Mason University, "There were a thousand people."

Kasich then went on to complain to reporters that he was not getting news media coverage that he deserved, especially since he is one of the few people left in the battle for the Republican nomination.

"You gave me no coverage; for a year, you ignored me," Kasich told reporters.

"I'm the last Governor standing," Kasich said with a hint of disdain in his voice. "You never would have bet on me."

The crowd at today's event was certainly a friendly one for Kasich, in an area just outside of Washington, D.C. that would not be as likely to vote for Trump or Cruz.

Asked if he would accept the number two slot with Rubio, Kasich again shrugged that off.

"I don't run for second," Kasich said as he makes three stops in Virginia, which votes on March 1, along with ten other states.
