We've heard the saying, "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus", and that seems to ring true when you analyze gender differences in personality and communication styles. But when it comes to food choices, it turns out men and women tend to crave some of the same things. GrubHub recently released a white paper on these differences. Their research measured a year's worth of orders from both men and women (from 7/17/13-7/16/14). We highlighted some of the most interesting facts below.

As far as what to order, men and women are actually on the same page. The top five choices for both to order are soda, pizza, fries, salad and soup.

It still seems like women are more likely to follow with the latest health food trends, while men stick with tried and true classics. Women are fascinated by the fads that reign on Pinterest, while Men are still team players to masculine meats and spicy trends.

The report shows that much like communication styles, dining behavior habits tend to differ. Women are seven percent more likely to order take-out on Friday, whereas men are more likely on Sunday. We wonder if that has something to do with Sunday football?

Men are nearly 55 percent more likely to order during late-night hours (10 p.m. – 2 a.m.) than women. Women are nearly 30 percent more likely to order food to work than men.

When it comes to dessert, women do not believe fro-yo is dead. Women are 61 percent more likely to order frozen yogurt while men order milkshakes 31 percent more often.

What do you think about the study? Were they spot-on or do you think they found an odd sample of diners?
