Celebrate all things oyster

Chef Doug Turbush's Marietta restaurant Drift Fish House & Oyster Bar is celebrating its first anniversary with a weeklong list of oyster deals and specials , chef demos and pairing dinners from March 1-7. Oysterfest highlights include Oyster happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. weekdays and 3-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with half-shell, half-priced oysters, "Buck-a-shuck" oyster of the day and $5 house punch;  a $35 Oysterfest prix fixe menu available each day; all day "buck-a-shuck" oysters and $5 Terrapin Hi-5 IPA every day;  "Oyster 101" chef demonstrations 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday;  a five-course, oyster-centric dinner featuring wine pairings on March 2; and a five-course dinner with beer pairings on March. 7.

Support your favorite local female chefs and food leaders

Celebrate International Women's Day with this event hosted by Community Farmers Markets and recognizing the women of Atlanta's local food movement. Chef, cookbook author and James Beard Award winner Virginia Willis will curate food and beverages with a team of female chefs including Sarah O'Brien of Little Tart Bakeshop, Taylor Webber of Hampton and Hudson and Holly Chute of Georgia Grown, as well as bartenders including Kellie Thorn of Empire State South , Shanna Mayo of The Luminary and Kendall Dreyer of Poor Hendrix. There will also be a silent auction featuring locally created projects and awards given to four women who support other females in the local food movement.
