Featured food events in metro Atlanta Dec. 11–16

Families can enjoy everything from free cookie decorating to photos with Santa this week. Put on your ugliest Christmas sweater and win a prize. There are several fun, food events happening in metro Atlanta, so add one or all four of the following activities to your calendar. Be prepared to eat, drink and be merry. 

Now through Dec. 16: Krog Street Market is decking the halls for a weeklong celebration with a variety of activities, including screenings of “The Santa Claus” (Dec. 11), “Home Alone” (Dec. 12) and “A Christmas Story” (Dec. 13); all movies begin at 6 p.m. Revelers will dance the evening away wearing outlandish holiday gear during the first annual Krog Jingle Ball beginning 6 p.m. Dec. 14; ugly sweater contests will net VISA gift card prizes, too. The festivities will wrap up with holiday pop-up shops starting noon Dec. 15 and 16; Santa will be on-site at 1 p.m. both days for photos.

Dec. 12: Get creative with cookies. Families will be able to participate in a complimentary sugar cookie decorating party beginning 5 p.m. at Atkins Park Restaurant & Bar. Cookies and festive toppings will be provided.

Dec. 15: Settle in for brunch and photos with Santa Claus beginning 8 a.m. at Murphy’s. Brunch will include French toast, pancakes, eggs and more; children will be able to order from the restaurant’s regular children’s brunch menu. Santa will be available for photos, but guests must bring their own cameras. A seat at the table is $20 per adult and $9 per child. Reservations required.

Dec. 15: Head to Holmes for the holidays. Bring your camera to snap a photo with Santa Claus while enjoying an a la carte lunch with menu items such as salads, lentils and squash soup, a cheeseburger, chicken sandwich and more. The party starts at noon.
