DISH OF THE WEEK: Stuffed peppadew peppers at Rize Artisan Pizza

If you check out the recently opened Rize Artisan Pizza in Poncey-Highland , you'll likely come for the pizza.

But you'd be remiss in overlooking the menu of housemade small plates, particularly the stuffed peppadew peppers.

The bright red peppadews, lightly charred, are stuffed with a creamy mixture of whipped feta, crumbled fennel sausage, spiced walnuts and calabrese oil. The stuffing provides an optimal counterbalance to the soft heat from the peppers, which are garnished with sprigs of parsley. Rize prides itself on making everything in house, and this dish shines in part due to the in-house made sausage.

It all makes for a uniquely satisfying side dish that can serve as the highlight paired with other small plates, or as a way to kick off a night filled with pizza.
