Is French’s new mustard better than the original?

THE TASTE-OFF: French’s Super Classic Yellow Mustard

This week, we kick-off a periodic column called The Taste-off, where we test new food products and beverages and let you know whether they live up to the hype.

THE PRODUCT: French's Super Classic Yellow

THE SELLING POINT: It's a fancier version of French's Classic Yellow mustard, with an added dash of mustard seed and turmeric.

THE TASTE TEST: If you pay attention, you can taste a difference between the Classic and the Super Classic. The Super Classic Yellow holds a deeper mustard taste and is slightly more viscous than the original. Color-wise, it's hard to discern a difference.

THE VERDICT: The Super Classic Yellow is worth the extra buck only if you are passionate about yellow mustard. It comes in a 12-ounce bottle and sells for a suggested retail price of $2.99. The original mustard, in comparison, is sold in 14-ounce bottles and costs $1.99. Both products are sold throughout metro Atlanta at supermarkets and grocery stores that sell French's products.
