Let’s ride.

The eight-mile Santa Ride , which honors the holiday season and Atkins Park 's owner, Warren Bruno, who lost his battle to lymphoma in 2012, will kick off at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10; cyclists will ride out at 6:30 p.m. To roll into the holiday cheer, cyclists are invited dress up in festive attire; Santa hats, reindeer horns and candy cane-inspired socks are grand, but bike helmets and bike lights are even better. The route includes two rest stops and takes riders on a tour of N. Highland Avenue, Ansley Park, Peachtree Street and several other areas.

“The pace will be extra slow and social [because] this ain't no workout. We all stay together (no drop no matter what).” Rest assured; that information is listed on the website.

This year’s event will also feature a costume contest after the ride, and all participating cyclists will vote on a winner who will be awarded with the Warren Bruno holiday bike.

This fundraiser for the Race Across America (RAAM) Georgia Chain Gang benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Bruno's charity of choice. There is no official entry fee, but a $25 minimum donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is suggested. Those who donate will receive a ticket for a free beer at Atkins Park. Tickets and registration are available here .
