City Winery has delayed its opening act. The new winery, restaurant and concert venue located at 650 North Ave., in an outpost at Ponce City Market was slated to open next week .

The inaugural act, Peter Wolf and The Midnight Travelers, was expected to go on stage on June 3 . Now, concertgoers will have to wait at least one week, although no specific date has been given.

All shows and events scheduled before June 12 will be rescheduled at City Winery for a later date or relocated in Atlanta, according to a press release. Updates for subsequent shows will be announced on Facebook and Twitter as well as directly communicated to ticketholders via email. In addition, current ticketholders for shows affected by the delay will receive two house seats to a non-sold out City Winery Atlanta show of their choosing and a $50 City Winery gift card.

The venue was initially expected to celebrate a grand opening on May 2. However, construction delays have led to multiple changes to City Winery's concert schedule .

The luxury concert concept is the brainchild of music and wine lover Michael Dorf. Also the creator of iconic New York City music venue the Knitting Factory, Dorf opened the first City Winery in the Big Apple in 2008. Since then, he has unveiled locations in Chicago, Napa Valley (now shuttered) and Nashville.

The Atlanta location is a multi-level space that boasts a 350-seat music venue, a 150-seat bar and restaurant, a patio and private dining rooms all in the midst of a fully functional wine-making operation.

Here is the statement that City Winery issued today, May 27:

"Due to further unavoidable construction delays, we've been told the Certificate of Occupancy will be delayed at least one week. We're monitoring the construction site daily, so we can open as soon as it's ready.  Also, we'd like to give a special thanks to the City of Atlanta for their help and assistance. All shows and events before June 12th will be rescheduled at City Winery for a later date or relocated in Atlanta.

Updates for subsequent shows will be announced on Facebook and Twitter as well as directly communicated to ticketholders via email.

All current ticketholders for shows affected by the delay will receive two house seats to a non-sold out City Winery Atlanta show of their choosing and a $50 City Winery gift card.

We're very sorry for the delay and can't wait to show Atlanta our finished space soon.”
