On Thursday evening, the kickoff party at Moe’s & Joe’s will celebrate 70 years of business in Virginia Highland, with specials, commemorative glassware and giveaways.
In 2014, I wrote about the history of the historic neighborhood tavern, which was founded in 1947, when two brothers back from WWII, Moe and Joe Krinsky, turned a former delicatessen into a drinking establishment.
The occasion for that story was a recent expansion and renovation project that brought along other changes — including going smoke-free, and adding a full bar with liquor and cocktails, more craft beer, and more seating inside and out on the popular sidewalk patio.
But the happy news is that Moe’s & Joe’s is still an atmospheric Atlanta landmark. And you can still order The MoJo Burger, which has been around since 1947. And indulge in a pitcher of Pabst, also forever know as “the finest,” thanks to the late, great server, Horace McKennie.
