The holidays are almost over, and there is no indicator telling how much you’ve already spent than the weight of your wallet. It feels thinner, and certainly needs some time off after the holidays. We get it. So instead of forking out double-digits for a prix-fixe New Year’s Eve dinner, check out some of these casual, budget-friendly New Year’s Eve celebrations.
The vibe is always colorful, the space is swanky, and Cook Hall knows how to serve up a mean cocktail. Moontower performs funk, disco and blues jams until the ball drop at midnight. You can order from their blackboard specials, such as duck confit tacos or sip on “Switchel Punch” with Angostura 7 year rum, Switchel elderflower and lime.
A stellar beer list and a breakfast buffet at midnight- that’s what you’ll expect at Cypress Street. Cover is only $15 and gets you the buffet and a champagne toast. The college football bowl games will be on the televisions all evening, and Sweetwater IPA is $2.
For those out in the ‘burbs, the Mex-Tex joint at Avalon hosts their first celebration. Don a sombrero, swing at piñatas and nosh on Bob Armstrong nacho dip or puffy tacos. To ring in the new year, the restaurant will be tapping Double Barrel Reposado.
The annual “White Trash Bash” is the kind of party you’ll remember from college days, but the vibe is way cooler. Proof & Provision, hidden on the bottom level of The Georgia Terrace, is serving up free passed apps and beer cocktails. Instead of toasting with champagne, you’ll raise glasses of Miller High Life at midnight.
One of the best spots at the apex of Midtown's 14th Street and Peachtree Street, TAP will be abuzz with live music and gastropub New Year's Eve specials from chef Nick McCormick. Nosh on snacks such as fried green tomatoes or popcorn and pork rinds and pair it with the tickling sensation of bubbly or a pint of their "tried and true" beer.

If you’re feeling lucky on the last day of the year, try your hand at El Taco’s “Wheel of Taco”. Every 30 minutes, try a spin to win drinks and other house specials. The deals are cheap while you’re waiting for a spin, with $4 pineapple-infused tequila shots, $10 large house margaritas and $7 22-ounce Dos Equis bottles.
