A high-traffic Old Fourth Ward space is getting a new tenant.
Cast Iron is set to open within the month at 701-5 Highland Ave. NE. This will be the first restaurant from chef Evan Cordes, formerly of Cakes & Ale, Serpas True Food and H. Harper Station. Brad Tolleson, formerly of Craft Izakaya, Brush Sushi Izakaya, and Restaurant Eugene, will serve as bar manager.
The restaurant's menu will include starters, entrees, sides and desserts including duck confit gaufrettes with pickled onion cream, cherry mostarda and duck skin; king trumpet and oyster mushrooms with sherry, balsamic, bread crumbs and egg yolk; and half cooked snapper with olives, olive oil, pimenton, fermented pimento, hop plant and popcorn.
The beverage side will feature custom cocktails, craft beer and wine.
The Cast Iron space showcases navy blue, metallic brass and woods outfitted with individual tables and wood booths, as well as counter seating and n outdoor patio.
The restaurant -- which previously housed restaurants P'Cheen and Last Word, which closed earlier this year -- will serve dinner and weekend brunch.
