A Puerto Rico native is hoping to bring a taste of home to the mainland.

Michael Diaz, who has been in the restaurant industry for more than 15 years, opened Mi Casita Boricua as a catering business in 2015. The brick-and-mortar restaurant is slated to open tomorrow in Lilburn with a grand opening celebration starting at 10 a.m. featuring music, dancing, presentations and food and drinks available for purchase.

Mi Casita’s menu includes “very authentic cuisine of the islands,” according a restaurant spokesperson, including a variety of mofongos, rice with pigeon peas and “tablas,” a mixture of different menu items served family style.

Beverage options include beer and wine, with plans to sell cocktails down the road.

An a la carte menu will be served throughout the day, in addition to a lunchtime buffet featuring special items.

Mi Casita Boricua will be open from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday; 10 a.m.-midnight Friday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday.
