Bone broths have been around as long as people have been making meat stocks, but lately they’re gaining in popularity primarily because people are recognizing that they work as a beverage that’s high in protein and low in carbs. McCormick’s Kitchen Basics line of bone broths includes the one we tried flavored with turmeric, ginger and lemongrass.  The spices and herbs brighten up the basic chicken flavor. Of course, you can use it in any recipe that calls for chicken broth but you can also just heat up a cup when you want a drink that’s rich in protein while incorporating the anti-inflammatory properties of ginger and turmeric.

$2.09 per 8.25-ounce package. Available at most grocery stores. http://mccormick.com/kitchen-basics/bone-broth

We love this Turmeric Stackable Tin from The Republic of Tea. The company makes organic turmeric tea in three varieties – cinnamon, ginger and matcha – then packages each in individual tins and stacks them in a space-saving tower. Each tin contains 12 natural, unbleached round tea bags that nestle perfectly in your mug, making it easy to enjoy a hot, soothing turmeric drink at home or at work. What we particularly liked about these teas is that the earthy turmeric flavor comes through – it’s enhanced but not hidden by the other ingredients in the tea.

$14 for three-tin tower. Available at Health Unlimited in Toco Hills, The Herb Shop in Fayetteville and Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge or online at http://republicoftea.com

Golden nut milks are a thing these days. You can find all manner of recipes for making your own. But while we’re usually fans of DIY, in this case, we think the Golden Almond Milk from Treehouse Milk is better than anything we’ve made at home. It’s their almond milk (made from organic almonds) with honey and organic turmeric, ginger and cinnamon. Lightly sweetened, lightly spiced, it’s delicious cold or warm. It’s a seasonal offering available until March from this local company that makes fresh plain and flavored almond, pecan, macadamia and cashew milks every week. They will deliver to your door or you can pick it up at a local farmers market or at Savi Provisions in Brookhaven and Buckhead, Dulce Vegan or Candler Park Market.

$8.75 for a pint, $14.50 for a quart. http://treehousemilk.com
