Since opening in 2015 in the heart of Roswell’s bustling Canton Street dining district, Gate City Brewing has become a fixture of the area’s craft beer scene. And in 2017, it was named among the Brewer’s Association’s 50 fastest growing breweries in the U.S.

In honor of all that, Gate City”s new Citras Maximus India Pale Lager is today’s Beer Pick.

Gate City Brewing Co., Roswell

Available on draft and in six-pack 12-ounce cans

Profile

More than simply a hybrid of IPA and lager styles, India Pale Lager juxtaposes a sturdy hop presence with lighter, crisper drinkability. At 5.5-percent alcohol, Gate City’s Citras Maximus is a bit more full-bodied and ale-like than many, featuring Citra as the single hop in multiple additions.

The result is a beer that pours a pale gold, with a lacy white head, and refreshing citrus and tropical flavors and aromas that give way to a soft, lingering bitterness in the finish. Overall, it’s a nice transition from spring to summer sipping.

Pair with

The IPA and lager mash-up in Citras Maximus makes it equally easy to pair with lighter fare like chicken and fish or spicy stuff like Tex-Mex and curry.
