Big changes are afoot at two of Atlanta's most prominent arts web sites.
ArtsATL.com has announced that Catherine Fox will be succeeded as executive director by Susannah Darrow, co-founder and executive director of Burnaway.org.
In a group email, Fox, who co-founded ArtsATL in 2009 after a 27-year career as art and architecture critic at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, said she sought to "shoulder fewer responsibilities at this time in my life."
Fox said she will remain in the role of executive editor at least until the end of the year.
Darrow, 29, co-founded Burnaway six and a half years ago. She will depart that media outlet in June and then be on maternity leave before starting at ArtsATL on Sept. 1.
Stephanie Cash, Burnaway's editor since November 2013, will serve as interim executive director. Cash is a former editor at Art in America magazine, where she continues as a contributor.
On Burnaway, board chair Chris McClure said, "We are very excited to have the opportunity to work with Stephanie as Burnaway embarks on its next phase of growth as the voice of the arts in the South and beyond."
An Atlanta native, Darrow wrote in a group email, "I am so excited to be staying involved in Atlanta's arts community and can't wait to begin several new initiatives at ArtsATL."

In her email, Fox praised Darrow's vision and fund-raising ability. "Susannah has already demonstrated her superior skills and dynamism as Burnaway’s Executive Director," Fox said. "I can’t think of more perfect person to take the helm."
Fox added that she would likely serve as an ex-officio board member once she fully retires.
Scott Freeman continues as ArtsATL's deputy editor.
