An old-school cafeteria has put down roots in Tucker.

Magnolia Room Cafeteria opened its doors last week at 4450 Hugh Howell Road #10 with plans to serve up traditional Southern dishes with a daily rotating menu.

If the restaurant's vibe and menu seem familiar, it's likely because Magnolia Room is a something of an homage to S&S Cafeteria, which closed on Chamblee Tucker Road in July 2016 after 33 years, according to Tomorrow's News Today.

Magnolia, owned by a longtime S&S customer known as “Mr. Louis,” is reportedly employing several former S&S employees. It’s named for the dining room at the now-shuttered Rich’s department store in downtown Atlanta.
