Georgia: Plenty of restaurant options beckon around state

The Dillard House. 2017 marks the 100th year in business for this legendary establishment serving Southern dishes family-style at each table. Minnie’s Uptown. It seems like all of Columbus eats lunch at this meat ‘n’ three-style cafeteria downtown (which is called uptown by locals for reasons that aren’t exactly clear) serving hearty portions of Southern fare. Glen-Ella Springs Restaurant. A fine-dining hideaway found inside the inn of the same name located in a mountain meadow and accessible via a narrow unpaved road through the woods. Expect American classics with an elegant touch. Reservations encouraged, especially if you’re not staying at the inn. Entrees start at $21. 1789 Bear Gap Road, Clarkesville. The Grit. One of the best vegetarian restaurants in Georgia, if not the best, serving dishes so filling and tasty that carnivores won’t realize there’s no meat in them. Try the Golden Bowl, a heaping delight of tofu and veggies served over rice and topped with their signature yeast gravy.
