Speaking to the crowd at his counterpart’s election night party, U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff said he still recalls the energy surrounding he and Raphael Warnock’s dual victories in January 2021.

“The whole nation looked to Georgia to make a statement about what America was about,” Ossoff said. “The whole nation turned its eyes on you. And we stood up, Georgia. We stood up and we worked and we knocked on those doors and we did everything that it took. And we sent Sen. Raphael Warnock to the United States Senate.”

Ossoff won a full six-year term then. Now, fellow Democrat Warnock is vying for the same. Ossoff said whether Warnock wins outright tonight or advances to the Dec. 6 runoff, he expects him to ultimately prevail. Warnock’s presence in Washington is vital, Ossoff said.

“This is a man who has earned respect universally on both sides of the aisle in the U.S. Senate,” Ossoff said. “This is the man who has consistently put our state above political party and above himself. This is a man who will work with anybody to do what’s right for the people of Georgia.”
