A Muslim imam, a Korean Presbyterian, a rabbi and two iconic leaders in the Black church delivered prayers to start off U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock’s election night event.
Rev. Gerald Durley, an Atlanta activist and pastor emeritus of historic Providence Missionary Baptist Church, told the crowd that the faith leader’s prayers would launch a celebration.
“This is a historic night because Raphael Warnock will be re-elected senator in just a few minutes,” he said.
Prayers were delivered by Bishop Reginald Jackson of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Plemon El-Amin, Imam Emeritus of the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam, Pastor Han Byung-chul of Korean Central Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, and Rabbi Ellen Nemhauser.
“We pray this evening is a celebration,” Nemhauser said. “A celebration of decency, of brotherhood, sisterhood, otherhood, for we are all a part of one neighborhood.”
Pastor William Murphy of the dReam Center Church of Atlanta, who is also an award-winning gospel artist, then performed a song titled, “You’ve Already Won.”
