Metro Atlanta school districts and businesses closed Tuesday in anticipation of possible snowfall, but many were disappointed when they didn’t wake up to a winter wonderland.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for multiple North Georgia counties and for all of metro Atlanta due to accumulations of ice and snow in the forecast.

While the advisory, which went into effect at 3 a.m. on Tuesday, was scheduled to expire at 7 p.m., it was canceled for metro Atlanta around 1 p.m.

Earlier forecasts predicted parts of the city could receive up to 1.5 inches of snow, but numerous areas saw only a dusting.

Although meteorologists have reported icing concerns as temperatures drop, several locals were still upset about the lack of snow, taking their frustrations to Twitter.

Others called it a “fake snow day” and said the city shut down for no reason.

Some even posted pictures of backyards and parks with sarcastic captions about the lack of snow.

And a few were actually happy it didn’t snow, especially with Super Bowl 53 activities underway.
