As the tax reform bill heads for a vote this week, the left is sounding the alarm on the legislation’s long-term effects. A roundup of editorials Monday takes a look at the issue.

Opinions from the left:

1. Despite Rubio's win, working Americans lose under GOP tax bill

From The Miami Herald: Rubio may have gotten his way, but any gain from the proposed bill will be modest, at best, and it will not last long.

2. Republican tax plan Is a recession waiting to happen

From Vanity Fair: If caps on deductions for mortgage interest stay in the bill, it will hurt homeowners by causing home values to fall and opening the economy up to a possible recession.

3. With tax vote, GOP places big bet for 2018

From The Washington Post: If the bill does pass, the GOP will have to show that all the vote-wrangling was worth it, and that the bill really does redeem President Donald Trump’s first year in office.

Others are not able to do so, part of why prenatal visit data has gotten worse in recent years. (Natrice Miller/AJC)
