New Republican leaders in state House
By Kristina Torres
Sept 13, 2013Republicans in the state House filled two key positions Friday to help lead their majority caucus.
Members picked state Rep. Matt Ramsey, R-Peachtree City, to be their new majority whip — someone who rounds up votes for bills backed by caucus leaders. He replaced Rep. Edward Lindsey, R-Atlanta, who stepped down from leadership as he campaigns to get elected to Congress.
Members tapped Rep. Matt Hatchett, R-Dublin, to be their new caucus chairman. He replaced former Rep. Donna Sheldon, R-Dacula, who resigned her House seat entirely as she also campaigns for a seat in Congress.
Rep. Sam Teasley, R-Marietta, was elected caucus vice chairman.
