New black caucus chair named

State Rep. Dee Dawkins-Haigler, D-Lithonia, is the new head of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus.

Dawkins-Haigler was elected in December but assumed her new role this week as lawmakers returned to session.

The caucus has 60 members and is the largest in the country.

Dawkins-Haigler takes over from Sen. Emanuel Jones, D-Decatur.
