The Georgia House of Representatives passed legislation Tuesday that would create an overview committee of lawmakers to examine the state Department of Community Health’s practices and find potential savings.

Senate Bill 62, sponsored by Sen. Judson Hill, R-Marietta, calls for the committee to include lawmakers from both chambers, who will serve two-year terms. The group would present an annual report of its findings and recommendations for the department.

The bill passed the House 126-27. It now returns to the Senate, which will consider changes the House made to the bill.
