The Georgia General Assembly at a glance for Wednesday, Jan. 24, Day 9 of the 2018 legislative session:

Medical marijuana: The House Medical Cannabis Working Group, chaired by medical marijuana supporter Rep. Allen Peake, holds its first meeting of this year's legislative session at 1 p.m. Peake, R-Macon, is the sponsor of House Bill 645, which would allow medical marijuana cultivation and distribution to registered patients.

Gold Star: Family members of a fallen service member would be eligible for up to two free Gold Star license plates, according to House Bill 287. The legislation will be heard by the Senate Veterans, Military, & Homeland Security Committee at 8:30 a.m.

Under the Gold Dome: Wednesday is Georgia Acupuncture Legislative Day, Georgia Cancer Awareness Day and Electric Vehicle Day. Expect to see organizations that care about these issues in the Capitol.
