The Georgia Legislature meets for its 38th session today as the 2014 General Assembly enters its final three days. The House starts at 10 a.m.; Senate at 1 p.m.

Maneuvering continues on bills related to abortion, guns, cityhood for Lakeside/Tucker, autism, foster care and more.

It will start at an 8 a.m. Senate Health and Human Services committee meeting, where lawmakers are expected to try to add the substance of the original foster care privatization bill (now a shadow of its former self) to HB 990, which would require legislative approval to expand Medicaid.

Among the bills expected to be voted on Thursday is HB 965, which would provide amnesty for people who seek help for drug overdoses. The bill was amended in a Senate committee to include a provision that would allow consumers to buy prescription medications from big online pharmacies not based in Georgia.
